Crazy? I went after lunch and loaded the trunk and never waited in line, I'll go Tuesday when I get back from beer heaven.

I got there around 11:45 to watch the LSU game and the line to get in was off the patio.

If you made a product that you could sell to a distributor for $5, which barely covered your costs to produce or sell that same product for $12 directly to the public which means a much bigger margin, allowing you to reinvest into your business, which would you do?

I get the financial aspect of it completely. I guess my question was more along the lines of why aren't they doing this with other beers as well? Im assuming Parish could make ghost brewery only as well if they wanted to right? I'm just curious why they haven't since they get to eliminate the middle man.

If ya put them both on a table and made me pick, I'm taking the Ghost though.

I am far from an expert and the only had a few OV, Envie and Ghost.

That said, I don't find OV and Envie to be special. Good, but not special.

I think Ghost is special.

I get the feeling that they'd love to do that with Ghost too. But they have to walk the fine line between doing what's best for them and not pissing off their distributors and retailers, which could make it tough to sell some of their other beers.

ETA: i see this has sorta been answered

But really the overheads on kegs have to be pretty good. Considering bars charge like $10 for a pint of Ghost, and this woudl probably be priced on par, and the number of pints you get per keg. half keg.

That and due to Louisiana law, they can't sell more than 10% of their total sales directly to the consumer, correct?

Yes and no. They make so much beer now, that they'd never come close to the 10% threshold.

Yeah all of the bars are pretty rough on some Ghost pricing for a pint which is why if I can't get any from the stores then I will just do without :)

I think I got a pint at the Draft House and it was 9 but after tip. Still they are going to be making over 1000 for a half keg. Not all of that's profit but damn.

Eh, the price isn't that terrible considering your drinking a world class beer on tap. I pay $10 to drink Mexican Cake on tap and have no problem doing so

Did anyone else go today? I'd never been, decided to check out the event, had a pretty nice little afternoon of day drinking. Say what you will about Broussard, LA being a tiny town, the Parish bartenders carry themselves with all the surly disdain of a seasoned Bourbon St. vet.
