Even though it smells not so great raw, will cooking it get get rid of risk of getting sick? I plan on making breakfast sausage out of it and will cook thoroughly

I wouldn't. I bought a pork roast unbelievably on sale once and when I opened it and stuck to my nose to it, blegh. Didn't want to take the chance. Tossed it.

Even though I eat things long past expiration dates, if it smells funky even before the date, I chuck it.

I've had pork that smelled a tad bit funky. I cooked it and ate it.

Pork starting to turn is like stepping into an elevator shaft, it's a quick ride to a place you would rather not be.

I would not eat it.

Acquistipaces in Covington...but it has been in my fridge since Sunday night. Nevertheless, fresh ground pork shouldnt spoil that quickly if its really fresh IMO. I've kept ground beef in the fridge for longer before it is cooked with no issues.

When we grind pork butt for sausage, we freeze it that day or smoke it/freeze it.
I think the high fat content causes it to spoil quicker.

I bought a boneless leg of lamb the other day and it states on the package that it will smell as soon as you open it but then go away. And it does. It just has that real game smell.
