I don't think I do anything unique, but I'm a big fan of throwing sausage or hot dogs and big mushrooms in towards the end of the boil. Those things are incredible after going in the boil. Also garlic is really good in the boil

Edit: here is a list of random shite that goes in our family boil (everyone likes something different):
Obv corn, lemon, potatoes
Hot dogs
Sausage
Mushrooms
Celery
Garlic
Onion
Eggs
Cauliflower
Whatever else looks good that will fit

Sweet potatoes

Basically every veggie or citrus (never had too much lemon/citrus in a boil) is going to be good in it. Some people are purists to lemon/potatoes/corn but most things will veggies good in it as long as you season well and time the cook right.

With all due respect, if you're asking this question now, you're about a year away from cooking 'killer' crawfish

Your father in law is going to think you're a pussy, hope you don't ruin the party today

Y'all gunna think this is crazy but I've done this for last 4/5 years after watching anothe guy do it, get water to good rolling boil, add 1 box of salt, drop crawfish in, put the lid on and wait until the first steam comes out the pot. Remove the crawfish, throw in an ice chest, dust heavily with Zatarains dry crab boil, THEN a liberal amount of Cajun Power Garlic Sauce, the a liberal amount of lemon juice, slam the lid shut and rock the ice chest violently for 30 seconds, do this again in 10 minutes, tilt the ice chest a bit after 20 minutes, then scoop the crawfish from the bottom, drain the scoop and serve. Believe it or not, they don't taste like the garlic sauce or the lemon juice, they just plain fkn good!
