You can buy something cheap that will last a few years, or get a Weber Genesis that will last for a long while.

I have a Charbroil Infared and love it.

Heats up very quickly and gets the job done.

If money isn't a problem, you can't be a Tec infrared grill. I have one hooked up to our gasline that we ran to the back deck. Although expensive, they are incredible. And they last. I've had this one for 10 years or so.

I would recommend whatever Weber you can get within your budget...

Weber is the best bet, then.

DO NOT get the Weber Spirit, go with the Genesis.

On that budget, you may want to look at the Weber Spirit line rather than Genesis. They have 2 and 3 burner Spirits. The 2 is pretty small; the 3 is plenty big for most grilling needs.

Almost all the other brands at affordable price levels are crap and will be junk in just a few years. The Weber is a quality grill that will last many years.

I got one at Walmart (uniflame?) about 7 years ago. I've kept it under the patio and it's been great. I've replaced the flame covers for $6 and the grill cook top for $15. It's like a new grill. I think I payed $150, and it was in the box so I assembled it at home. I have no complaints.

This. I got the base model (Spirit I think is what it is) and I love it. I think it was around $399 on sale.

Are all Webers the same whether they are from Home Depot or other grill stores. I know there is a lesser grade of lawnmowers offer at HD

There may be some difference in the grate (cast iron, rather than ceramic), but I don't think there is any difference in the grill.

I don't think a brand like Weber would allow a quality difference based on retailer. But I have nothing to base that on.

If you don't spring for a Weber, your best buy is anything from Onward Manufacturing. You can probably find a model at your nearest Lowes, and it will be better than every other grill there not made by Weber.

I have one. It does cook fine but the components are crap. The only thing Stainless is the lid. The rest is some cheap Chinese alloy that turns to shite after 5 years of light to moderate use. Would not buy again. I loved mine too until it started falling apart.

Seems like people that rave about Charbroil products haven't had them very long. Weber makes grills for the long run. And they stand behind them. They seem expensive when you are at the store and comparing them to other brands, but they last forever.

When I say they last forever, I mean they cook great for a long time. Before I bought a Weber, I had a great big Charbroil, and thought it was the shiznits for about a year. Then I spent about 2 years burning the shite out of food before I wised up and bought a Weber. I swear that grill would watch my eyes and flame up as soon as I looked away for more than 5 seconds...

If that is all she wants to use it for all she needs is a basic burner. I bought a $99 Grill Master 5 years ago for that very simple purpose and it has worked great.
