LC folks, I'm looking for a first date restaurant in Lake Charles. Some place where you can have a conversation without yelling, but without a dress code.

Whatcha got?

Mazens would be my first choice for what you’re describing but I’m a little biased because I love the place.

Other (non casino) options would be La Truffe Sauvage, Villa, 1910, and The James. There are others but can be kind of loud (Calla, etc). I’m sure I’m missing some too.

I also would vote for Mazen's. You can bring your own bottle of wine, for a small cokerage fee. I would bring a great Chardonnay wine to drink with your fish. They serve fresh fish (the catch of the day) cooked about 10 different ways. I would order crab crepes for appetizer, Fish Aladdin or Fish Barataria and order the Grand Marnier Soufflé (when you sit down) for dessert. If you don't win her over for that effort, it was not worth the effort.

If you get married, you can invite me to wedding and thank me then!

Yeah there are so many great entrees but I can’t order anything other than Fish Aladdin because it’s so damn good.

The marinated crab claw appetizer is delicious as well.

Now I want to go.

Classic move. Always date to impress. My bride, of 38 years, would say that I scored that way. I would bring a Peter Michael Ma Bell Felle (I brought it to Mazen's about a month ago). Best Chardonnay that goes with their fish. You will fine your new bride with that move.

The James 710 would be a fantastic first date spot. Mazen's is a good restaurant but I would choose something a bit more relaxed for a first date.

Pat's of Henderson is a good option as well.

You can’t go wrong with Mazens but since Pats of Henderson opened back up the food has been amazing

Thanks for all the help everyone. Lol, I might skip bringing my own bottle of wine. I just got rid of a wife, I'm not trying to snag another one so soon.
