Mexican joint by Cortana Mall. Had a saddle in the foyer I used to play on when I was a kid. Also had big longhorns on the wall. Man what an awesome place from what I can remember. If I had to guess this was early to mid 90s. Cortana area used to be rocking. I miss those days

No, it was on Airline Hwy adjacent to Cortana, kinda across the street from Fun Fair Park

El Chicos i believe is the answer.
And then you had Chi Chi's which was on the same side as Fun Fair Park back in 80's

I used to love Chi Chis as a kid. That chain turned to shite real quick.

My additions
Friendly Yamaha on Airline started out as a Mirror Steak House and a meat market (Scallons maybe), then became Kiva's. Kiva now has the Portobello's and a new spot in Denham. About the only thing worth a flip on his menu is the gumbo.
Mason's grill started out as Lou Mac's, and then
Don Pedigo took it over.
I know that George's on G O'neal was Prytania before Smokie got it, but was it anything before Prytania? Also, there was a small building that was torn down where George's parking lot is. Does anyone know what that was?

Yes, Mecca is right by the bridge in French Settlement. Named something else now. I know it was called The Dock for a while
