How many of ya'll grind your own meat?

Is it cost efficient? Do you 100% do your own?

Just popped in my head as a great Christmas present for my wife. She is huge into eating clean and doing as much on our own as possible. Is it worth it?

Thanks

We use the kitchenaid grinder and it works fairly well. Lately we've been in a bigger time crunch (2 small kids, wife and I both work) so we've kinda gotten away from it. The quality is unmatched vs ground beef from a grocery. I still do it for making burgers. Chili...just gets store bought ground beef.

I would imagine the free standing versions are faster and easier than the kitchenaid attachment.

My first thought was kitchenaid one. Maybe actually put the kitchenaid mixer to use since she has used it I think twice in 4 years of marriage lol.

I do it all the time. I have the KitcheAid and it works good but I also have one I bought at Ducotes 3/4 hp for about $175 and a ten pound stainless steel stuffer since I do a lot of deer and pretty much use it now.

Go buy a brisket and grind hamburgers. Once is all it will take.

You grind a whole packer? Trim any fat first?

I trim some of the fat. I don't like that outer layer.

Grind it and mix it with ground short ribs, cook to just an easy medium with a little salt and pepper in a cast iron skillet or flattop then put the cat outside.
