Second time coming here where they weren't offering pour-over coffee. I know they just opened and all the kinks haven't been worked out, but there are about 10 workers in here and 5 customers, so not sure why there wouldn't be time for it.

Also, French press coffee is not even on the menu.

Call me a coffee snob, but my main reason for going to the original location on Perkins was to try artisinal coffees.

Hope downtown finds its legs and gets it together soon, because the location and ambiance is awesome.

Have you talked to James or Lina (owners)? They are two of the nicest and most-accessible proprietors you will find.

I haven't. I absolutely love the Perkins location so I'm sure they will get it sooner or later. It's just disappointing is all as the downtown location is more easily accessible to me.

I've been three times since they've opened and have enjoyed it quite a bit. My cortado was on point each time (which I appreciate doesn't help someone who is attempting to order something they aren't carrying), the staff was attentive, and the space is beautiful.

I haven't ordered food or cocktails yet, but I can't imagine I'll be terribly disappointed with either.

They will figure it out.

James and Lina clearly know what they're doing.

Not triggered at all. I'll be back. I want this place to succeed. It has a different (and pleasing) vibe than anywhere else downtown.

Why don't they figure out that clusterfrick logjam at the register at the Perkins location. Seriously.

They have new (shorter) hours posted. AGAIN!

close at 3pm weekdays
2pm Saturdays
Sunday’s not even open.

They used to be open until 10pm during the week. They clearly are missing the mark with their customer base.

I’m guessing they don’t have the business to justify the longer hours.

I mean, they’re downtown where everyone’s office is located. Non-drive-thru coffee shops thrive on people who use the space for work/meetings. If your office is right there, what incentive do you have to go to Magpie? And if your office isn’t, you probably aren’t looking to fight for street parking in the area to go to that location.

Well it's a huge space, perhaps the largest coffee shop in terms of square feet in all of baton rouge. so it's usually an empty chasm. not to mention the last few times I tried it they were out of so many things I just gave up.

And yeah I agree unless you're going downtown for a meeting there is no reason to drive down there for coffee when French Truck and Reve are not too far and have parking.

Magpie had completely righted the ship from when I made my original post.

Their food was excellent and, to me, they had the best pizza in town.

Always seemed to be a varied crowd at night...business people hanging out for drinks and dinner after work, friends who live downtown meeting up, LSU students studying.

I'm really quite flabbergasted that they are closing so early now. They really filled a niche that no other coffee shop in town did...superbly crafted coffee, good food and finely crafted cocktails, open late.

Damn shame.

They don't even offer breakfast boards anymore :(
