Have not been in Knox in a long long time, but there used to be a "fast food" style restaurant..
Steak in a Bag or Steak in a Sack...
that made one delicious sandwich, it came in pita bread. Sliced steak with onions/bell peppers...
I am sure it is gone by now...but it was so good my old boss (many years back) tried to copy it and opened one in Columbia SC.

Calhouns is solid.......Pretty good BBQ, and I believe they make their own beers.

Agree Calhouns is solid. There's a couple locations but the one on the river obviously provides the best view. There is another restaurant that's next to it that was also really good, I believe it's changed to a Ruth's Chris now though.

There is a place down the highway from campus called Ye Old Steakhouse that is pretty famous for their steaks, but from what I hear has slipped in recent years.

I know there are a few more famous places, but I'm literally drawing a blank right now. I'll check back tomm with some more suggestions tomm

Ye Old steakhouse isn't pricey but the steaks are mehhh, like Crazy Johnny's not great but not bad.

Nama for sushi

Baker Peters Jazz Bar has good food

Deas End BBQ or Sweet Peas BBQ better than Calhouns

Bistro By The Tracks is upscale but casual

Few restaurants on Market Square and there is plenty of parking in garages thats should be free

Gourmets Market, Sunspot and Pete's are local breakfast places

Really just depends on where you're staying and how far you want to go.

Litton's is really good and well thought of by most.

As far as game day goes though, if your looking for a good place to go and good atmosphere, Calhoun's on the river is a great place.
