My work brought me to central Mississippi today. I was told to try Kanuu's restaurant in Hazelhurst. This place was amazing! It's owned by a guy from India but the southern cooking may have been the best I've had at a restaurant. The fried chicken, turnip greens, snap beans, creamed corn, and other things were great. And they had about 10 different kinds of pies. They didn't have pecan today so I went with the chocolate. It was obviously homemade and very good.
Has anybody been there? You should try it when you're in that area. It not far from I-55.
And NO, I do not own the place!

My parents live in Hazlehurst. The name of the place is something generic like "Country Steak and Seafood" but all the locals call it "Kanuu's" after the owner. It's pretty good lunch/dinner seafood/soul food buffet. This type of restaurant abounds in MS. There are some good ones just south of Hazlehurst in Brookhaven, MS, in particular, Pappa's on Hwy. 51.
