Idiot frat brother didn't bring nearly enough rice for our tailgate last season.

Called Jambalaya Shoppe and Pot and Paddle to try and get as much as we could. Both helped us out and were great.

That being said, I think the Jambalaya Shoppe rice held better for longer (IIRC)

I’ve used Pot & Paddle last min when we needed to feed 20. It was good and super easily.

I’m sure Jambalaya Shop is fine too, but I find that they are inconsistent between the different locations. Maybe someone will chime in with a location that they know is good.

I understand the convenience of these places, but man, they are disgusting. Their Jambalaya and Pastalaya have zero flavors whatsoever. Their white beans are just canned Road Runner with zero added flavor... or salt. Their "green salad" is like 7 pieces of iceberg lettuce from a salad kit, and their ranch is inedible.

This goes for Pot and Paddle, Jambalaya Shoppe, and Rice and Roux. (Rice and Roux is the best of these 3).

Find someone's uncle who lives deep in Ascension or Livingston Parish to cook one up.

I have to provide "team lunch" for my daughter's softball team once a season, and I consistently use the Pot & Paddle on Jefferson. Only thing I noticed this year was that they charged me for plates/utensils/serving pieces, which kind of irritated me. But other than that, they've been great and I can get enough food to feed 20 girls for two days for about $120.

FYI R&R will open up a third location Monday, in the Acadian-Perkins shopping center. I think they are moving into the Jambalaya Shoppe location.

I've been disappointed both time I tried them. (Never tried Rice and Roux) Both times trying to feed about 10 in a hurry. Once I got home and the product was more of a stew or a soup. I literally poured it out of the container just to prove the point. In an amount that was supposed to feed 10, their might have been 3 pieces of pork that would have required teeth. The little meat it had was just shredded but looked more like it had been put through a grinder. The other time was almost opposite. The rice looked like it had been cooked separate. It was still mostly white, like the product was simply mixed together in a bowl after being cooked. Never again, either.

that’s awesome - I know one of the owners and he is a very generous, kind man and deserves all the business

Either one makes a decent jamb in a pinch. It does vary by location though. The Gonzales locations are better than the BR ones. But I never go late in the evening. Only for lunch. Every time I have been later in the day it has not been good.

The pork roast lunch at P&P is very good.
