Is a Costco membership worth it for me. I'm single, so I don't need to buy in mass quantities for a family. I also have an amazon prime account, so I can already get pretty good deals on dry goods. So basically, is Costco worth it just for the meat, alcohol, some frozen foods, and other deals at Costco I don't know about yet.

Price of Makers Mark is about $4 cheaper than Walmart. Good prices on TP, paper towels, dog food. Gas prices are typically better than any place in town.

I go to Costco at least once a week because I live less than a mile a way.

I go for:

Gas
Iced coffee
rotisserie chicken
toilet paper
paper towels
eggs
bottled water
mixed nuts

When I'm feeling like a fatty:
queso
other cheeses

So is the meat all it's cracked up to be? Not only in terms of savings but also quality and variety?

Yes. You could probably get your money's worth just in gas. Alcohol, meat, and fruit/vegetables are good too. I recently bought tires from them as they were the cheapest around.

How much is a membership? Have a buddy you could maybe split it with?

Not for me because it's in a shitty traffic area so I don't go.

I have a membership through a business but if I had to pay I wouldn't have it.

They sell Choice and Prime beef, but I don't think the prime is on the same level as a top level prime, but it is still really good

Do you have a big family? If so, absolutely yes. A membership is like $50 and you'll probably save that much all on your initial visit.

If you don't have a big family,

Costco is great for those household items that you hate buying, but must buy:

Toilet Paper
Paper Towels
Baby wipes
Laundry detergent
Dish detergent
Lysol disinfectant wipes.

You can also load up on beverages (water, coffee, soda, beer, liquor) for a good while. You can get some non-perishable, snack-item foods too.

In short, yes.

I don't know about other locations, but the New Orleans food court is outside and I've never been asked to show my membership card. There are probably a number of non members who eat here.

OP, it might depend how close you live or work and if gas is something you can regularly purchase without feeling like you're going far out of way. Also, consider your freezer size. If you have chest freezer then it can work for you. If you don't have a chest freezer, you probably won't be able to buy and consume enough to make it worth it for you. If you have the money and a freezer, consider investing in a vacuum sealer and that'll help with meat.

ETA: If you don't have a chest freezer and you want one, they sell those at Costco too!

Worth it for gas alone. Premium is generally 30-40 cents cheaper there and its top tier gas.

It's absolutely worth it.

I'd pay the $50 just to roam around the store once a month.

If you used it for nothing more than gas it would more than pay for itself.
