Not looking to spend much more than about $500. Also not sure if I want to go all charcoal or do a combo charcoal and gas. Any recommendations?

Another vote for char-broil tru infrared. Just change out the cast iron grill to stainless and it is perfect.

Been having a Weber Performer for a few years.
It's all you will need.
