Yeah me too. He would give me a glass of beer because Fleur De Lis uses those small glasses.

Then we would get in the truck all cockeyed and ride down Government street not knowing what a seatbelt was.

"Put that window up. You're letting out the smoke."

Ahhh...the good old days of youth and drunk grandfathers.

Sorry to hijack but I got a feeling Curbside ain't making an announcement.

i think the little frosted glasses are still part of the FDL charm .. the only other place that i think still uses those is the pastime ..

Man, I haven't been to the FDL in at least two decades, but I do remember the little glasses.

I'm sure the old guys are gone from behind the bar by now (Joe was one, I think), but it always made me chuckle that they answered the phone "Flur de leese"

yeah .. there are usually just ladies back there now .. i will go once in a blue moon for a small Round The World and 1 or 4 beers .. we always just sit at the bar .. just part of the charm ... it is kind of sad that BR is losing a lot of its old hole in the walls .. kind of makes me jealous of NOLA a bit .. you guys still have tons of cool dives ..

Joe Ragusa was the old bartender and Junior Guerscio was the owner. Both died. Juniors daughter took it over and I'm pretty sure she still runs it. After she took it over I said shite once at the bar and they told me to watch my mouth.

I pouted for a year over that before I went back.

When I was in law school we'd hit the FDL every Tuesday or Thursday and play those great old time pinball machines they had. Beer, pizza and pinball. Winner.

Yeah, last time I passed through everything seemed to be getting a little "slick".

pinball AND that old shuffleboard game .. i remember those well ..

yeah, it is really starting to suck up here, relative to restaurant and watering hole uniqueness .. the chains, both national and local, are taking over .. what does it tell you when walk on's can open a THIRD location here in town ? and it will be packed .. sometimes i get what Mike DaTigah bitches about on here ..

I had the honor to tend bar with Joe while in college and law school ...one of the finest gentlemen ever(he had 10 kids).

Many fond memories. After junior died Lola Guercio took over and upon her passing the folks that run it now took over with a slightly different attitude.

Thanks for the memories.
