But he asked why he didn't step in in reference to the flipping.. Not to the well done steak.
It's one thing to prefer a lesser cooked steak. It is entirely different to tell someone to stop flipping your steak. Let's face it.. Whether you're a fan of flipping multiple times or not, the difference is minuscule.

Too hard to flip often in the micro wave
Can't believe this wasn't mentioned until the 40th post

It's a worn out joke, so I'm not surprised at all.

From that, and why I flip at least 3 times:
quote:
By allowing each side to cool for a few moments after being heated for a few moments, the intense temperature gradient that can build up near the surface of the steak has time to dissipate. Some of that heat energy is released back into the air, while some of it dissipates into the steak. In either case, it rescues the outer layers from cooking more than they absolutely need to.

I usually flip them when the microwave prompts me to do so.

3 to get proper criss cross grill marks... SUPER hot flat iron grill pan.
ETA:
My "7th Inning Steak"... "Fast Marinade" as game starts... Start heating the grill pan in the 5th Inning... Cook the steak during the stretch.

That Gordon Ramsey video is fricking killer on steaks

I put mine on a 45 degree angle to the grates. Flip to the right, flip to me, flip to the left.
3 times total and it gives the steaks a nice criss cross grill mark.

I can think of very few people I'd feel comfortable stepping in and correcting while they're preparing dinner. I mean, stepping up to say you like med-rare is one thing. Stepping up to say you're allergic to X item is one thing. But stepping up and saying "Uh, can you not flip my steak so many times?" is ... teetering the line.
well said, agree

I bet you're that annoying guy at a crawfish boil or BBQ that is constantly telling the cooks what they're doing wrong.

Western sizzler flips a few times and it is excellent with Heinz 57.
