My husband has expressed interest in homebrewing, and seeing that I really like beer too, I figured there can't be a better Father's Day gift! Now I just need to figure out what he needs, and I need help. I saw this kit on Amazon, but I really don't know if this is good or not. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Yeah, thats the one i have. I've bought much more stuff for it though, to make things simpler and there are some things that you just need that they don't tell you.

That's a fine starter kit. I would advise adding that book listed below "How to Brew" by John Palmer for another 12 bucks. If he sticks with it, that book will get worn out.

Also, get him the book How to Brew by John Palmer.
It is an extremely good idea to read up on this stuff before you brew.

That looks good. IMO, I would get a kit w/ a plastic "Better Bottle" carboy. I started out with a glass carboy and its a pain to deal with....very heavy when filled and breakable. I have 2 5 gallon Better Bottles now and only use my galss one when the other 2 are full.

I have glass but was very close to getting a better bottle and may be my next carboy. I know they include them with some kits at morebeer.com

Thanks all. Anything else I need to buy right away, or should I just do the kit and the book and let him go from there. Thanks again!

And ingredient kit would be nice. But you might want to let him pick that out himself.

he would need a extract kit and a carboy brush...

Bottle caps and bottles. They sell bottle caps at Marcello's. Tell him to start drinking more beer and saving the bottles (no twist off's).
