Does anyone have some good family recipies for home made liquors? I’m not talking about distilling. A common example is limoncello (vodka steeped w lemons and then add a simple syrup)

I’ve seen nocino, but I’ve got no walnuts. Maybe w pecans instead?

I’ve tried roasting pecans then placing in a bourbon, but was disappointed.

Sounds like you’re asking about both liqueurs and infused liquor.

I’ve infused tequila with jalapeño before. I enjoyed the result. I haven’t made a liqueur.

I've always been interested in making schnapps. Anyone ever do this? If so, were the results worth it?

I've added rosemary, basil and thyme to my homemade limoncello before, separately not together. The trick was if you are steeping your lemons for one to two weeks, only put in the herb for 3-4 days then remove it. Otherwise the herb will be overpowering.

Sloe Gin is easy to make and it gets better the longer you let it sit. But you have to be able to find sloes.

My wife once worked for an attorney that always made his own limoncello and gave it out around Christmas. He made it, bottled it in a fancy shaped bottle, capped it with a blue synthetic stopper and had labels made to adorn the bottles.

That stuff was damn good and had a nice kick to it with a nice citrusy aftertaste that stung just a little as it went down. We'd keep the bottle in the freezer until it was gone.

I've made coffee liquor a few times. It's basically just vodka, simple syrup, concentrated coffee, and a vanilla bean. It gets better the longer you let it age, but is drinkable immediately.

The ingredients cost about as much as a bottle of an off-brand coffee liquor, like Kamora, so I stopped making it.

I find it satisfying to make something out of my kitchen that I enjoy and not simply buying the same product from the store.

When I make things at home, I have control over the ingredients and fix it to suit my tastes and needs.

I get that, and when I make it, I use decaf coffee and go heavy on the coffee flavor. But it's not something I drink that much, or try not to drink that much. I did have a bottle that had set up for nearly two years That was some really good stuff.

Planning on making some ginjinha this year when cherries come into season after having some in Portugal.
