Not another thread about Crawfish availability. If you would have searched, there's probaby 50000 threads about crawfish. No one should ever again make a post about crawfish cause without a doubt it's been discussed already.

So it seems the universal price for this weekend has been agreed to as $2.29/lb. What a fricking racket this is.

I literally called LA Boilers 20 minutes ago and reserved about 70 pounds. Forgot to ask the price as I assumed it was $1.99 which is what I was told earlier this week when I called around. The girl there said "We just changed the prices today". I mean it's only a $40 difference overall but it's the principal of it. It's freaking end of May, prices are supposed to be decreasing not jumping .40 cents.

They running out of bugs. Like fin said, ponds are dry and the basin rose sending all the bugs back into the swamp and with little demand they aren't going get em

Eta: not dry as in no water but just not producing

Eta2: no way I'd pay premium prices for what you're gonna get right now...

I guess so, but we hear the same shite every year. I guess crawfish production is a fickle business.

Some guys are still catching.. It's just more work to get up in the woods vs setting traps in sloughs..

Would u go through all the trouble of moving 200 traps with the water ab to fall back out? I wouldn't

So what is the odds of me being able to snatch up a sack for <1.90 a couple of weeks from now? Cause it is looking like a short season this year

More people need to understand this. The seafood industry as a while is also like this. There are many forces at work there.

I boiled 3 sacks last weekend out of the spillway area and they weren't hard at all. I was suprised at how easy they were to peel.

Oh mine peeled easy. Pinch the tail and pull right out bc I know how to cook crawfish. The shells were hard. As in hard
the damn crabs I caught off the pier were softer than the crawfish

I would say not good. Mississippi river and atchafalaya river are on a slow fall. If it stayed up above 3' in Morgan city for ab a month we would probably have another crop but it's not looking like that will happen

I would drive down to Pierre part to get them if you are buying a lot. Gonna be $60 a sack vs $100

Eta: whats ur email?

Ag Dept guy on radio last week said the crawfish season was over. Not ending. Over. It doesn't go by the calendar. We're having Mudbag Madness in Shreveport. Don't know where they will get crawfish. I'm not gonna even try to buy any.
