I'd imagine if they did that, they wouldn't charge that price for a dozen cupcakes. At Ambrosia, a dozen is decently priced.. even though I bet one cupcake alone runs a few bucks.

For the sake of long term business, these cupcake shops should probably think about other items. When the cupcake trend dies, they'll be fricked. But the market for birthday/wedding cakes, king cakes, donuts, etc. will never cease to exist.
