How is that? I've been thinking about picking up a few of those Mikkeller singles.

Gentlemen. I need your help. I'll be in San Fran this Thurs-Tues. I plan on hitting up Russian River on Sat and other good spots in between. My 2 questions are as follows:
1) I'm shipping 1 or 2 styrofoam bottle shippers to my friend that I'm staying with. How safe is it to check one or both of them on my flight back? I get 2 checked bags on my flight back for free. I could pay another one and it be cheaper than FedEx across the country. Or should I go that route? I feel pretty safe with them in the styrofoam containers.
2) I've already read some of the other F&D San Fran threads.. but I want my beer buddies recs on where to eat/drink. I'll be staying right off the Eastern border of Golden Gate Park. On Oak St.

Thanks guys. Love you.
Ps Modern Times is now in NYC. I'm so excite.

i went to north dakota last september and bought a bunch of beer across the river in minnesota. while i was there i went by target and bought a shipping box, bubble wrapped and ziplock'd everything, and checked it as a bag. i "shipped" about 48# of beer for about $25 if i remember correctly.

I packed 10 RR bottles in a carry-on sized suitcase (that was checked on the way home) I had strategically packed with unneeded sweaters and other clothes, and they all made it safely home wrapped in just those items. I am sure the styrofoam shippers would be safe in a checked bag.

Tough to answer that one on the shipping BB, for me I would just FedEx them. I never had any issues shipping with them and prices are good, but with a checked bag it could get tossed around pretty good even in a styro box

I'm sure Dean can help you more than I can.

My suggestions based on the few days I was there last summer:

Cellarmaker on Howard Street is a must. Awesome beers, every single one. They are constantly rotating and everything I've had from them has been great.

Toronado is a must as well.

City Beer Store was cool. I had Consecration on tap.

I did the Anchor tour. It wasn't anything great, but I drank beer at 10am while killing time before an afternoon Giants game.

If you do go to a Giants game, check out Public House, which is part of the stadium. You can come and go from your seats. Nothing like drinking Russian River Blind Pig while in AT&T Park.

Coater what kind of Shipping box are you talking about? Like a normal cardboard box? More than likely I'll go this route for at least 1. The styrofoam holds everything pretty tight inside. I'll also ziplock and bubble wrap them a little for extra protection.

Those can be hard to find. I have found you can get shipping boxes from wine stores, pretty cheap. They receive shipments of boxes of wine daily, and have to throw away the boxes in many cases. They would rather sell it for a couple of bucks than throw it away.

Styrofoam box is the most secure, though.

Yeah I think if he uses styrofoam boxes, bubble wrap and the zip lock them then no matter what method the bottles should be fine "should be"

NBD fantastic beer, will buy more at $9

Yes I just went with a standard box off the shelf at target. I wrapped each one and ziplock' each one. Worked for me and was really cheap
