Blue Runner not only has Red and White beans in a can, they now have gumbo, etouffee, and jambalaya base. Tried the gumbo base and found it pretty good once I added some spice and other ingredients to it. Yeah, it's not as good as making it from scratch, but it's not too bad when you're in a hurry.

What say you?

The red & white beans are legit. I always keep it on hand for a quick meal when there is no time to cook and also for hurricane provisions.

Don't care what anyone says. The beans are legit. I usually add some to my home cooked to thicken things nicely.

Or I use them when I make my quick cheat red beans and rice.

To the BR canned red beans, I add van camps red kidneys, sautéed onion, bell pepper and garlic.
Add a smoked sausage to the pot, green onion before serving, you're golden.

Red & white beans are good if you need a quick meal. I usually add stuff like sauteed bell pepper & onion (I keep some chopped in the freezer just for things like this) + whatever meat. Top them with green onions also.

I haven't tried the other stuff...wasn't there a thread on here once about them and several people said they were kind of blah? Also, they seem kind of pricey for what you get--isn't it like $4 a can, then you have to add your own seafood?

Exactly what I do when I don't have the time to cook beans.

From nothing to a feast in 30 minutes.

If you had some Popeyes biscuits with it, it could be a 'last meal' request.

And a few pieces of chicken.

They are great for what they are

Plus blue runner is very supportive of the community, every jambalaya fund raiser I have been associated with, they gladly provided beans

One of the very few if not only cannery that cooks the beans before canning, most just put the veggie and water in the can, then put in boilers to cook the product
