You mean like free drinks? Yeah, pretty common everywhere. Especially if drinking draft beer.

Basically, a "this one is on me" from the bartender (free drink) after buying 2 or 3 rounds. Seems to be prevalent even in random bars where I'm not a regular in NYC. Haven't noticed it elsewhere unless I know the bartender.

Happens in Jersey quite often and in my regular places in New Orleans
