Tried out a new place in Houston the other night as it's often highly rated and their Pub Burger is one of highest rated in town.
We were a group of 4, had to wait about 45 minutes for a table so we hung out at the bar. Decent selection of craft beers with a couple of casks as well. 512 Pecan Porter on nitro is very good. It had a very silky texture. They serve draft beers in 20oz pint glasses so they end up costing a dollar or 2 more than they would other places. They have some cheddar biscuits with bacon maple jam that is damn good. The burger is a pretty solid one, bacon, cheese, onions etc... Don't think you're going to a place where there's whacky guacamole, grilled mushrooms, fried egg, etc all as options. They're not a burger place though, they have a bunch of different stuff on the menu. I want to go back and try the non-burger stuff.

I considered it but since they were known for the Pub Burger I went with that for my first ever visit there. I'll be back. I'd most certainly order it again as it was a tasty burger. The fried chicken and biscuit is what peaked my interest.

It has a different menu than what one expect from a gastropub .. seems more like a hearty, Southern-inspired menu. All the biscuits sound good. Big menu too. Didn't expect to see so many items.

The burger was a good size and I'd consider it hearty. And the plates I saw on the other tables seemed the same as well. They looked hearty without being disgusting. Southern inspired is a good description I'd say.
I recommend this place for anyone asking for local places to eat.

Yeah that place is awesome but everyone in town is trying to eat there everyday it seems so waits are long. Try the open face brisket sandwhich next time. Did they tell you what the initials BRC stand for?

Haha Big Red Cock. Of course there's a gigantic red rooster statue outside.

They should open a place that focuses on artisan sausages or gourmet hot dogs, name it "Red Rocket"

Right near there but a little more upscale is Branch Water Tavern...damn good and best whiskey selection in town.

Figured you heard the word "big" and "cock" thus sold on it. jk
And yes the I forgot to mention the mac and cheese. Very rich and cheesy with just enough bacon.
