What's the story on this place? Anyone tried it? Good? Bad?

What say you?

Huge menu, huge variety, average to above average pub food. I don't drink beer so I can't comment on that side, but people I have been with comment on the beer being good, bad, ok and everything in between.

I would probably put it above chilis, but in the same class for sure. I think pizzas are supposed to be their specialty, which they were pretty good. Light on the sauce so you might want to order extra.

My brother said the hamburger was good.

If Applebees and Chili's met and conceived a child on the bar at Chimes, nine months later you would have BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse.

Good beer and pizza. Overpriced imo though. 2 persoanl pizzas and 2 beers = 50+ bucks. That's too much imo

Best bet is during happy hour, I think it's 3-7pm...

Their in-house brews and most imports usually start around $4, but dollar off all draft makes it around $3 a beer...

Also, $2 off appetizers and HALF-PRICE mini-pizzas...

There are better places to go, but their happy hour makes it worthwile to stop in every once in a while...

I like the red beer there and the greek pizza even though the pizza is a bit too thick for my taste. They aslo have a thin crust appitizer pizza that is good.

The food is basic but decent.

They don't brew anything "in-house" in Baton Rouge. They have breweries in West Covina, Oxnard, and Roseville, California, Reno, NV, Boulder, CO, and Chandler, AZ. They ship that beer to the restaurants around the nation.

Family wants to do an after christmas lunch. Nothing seems to authentic here but I will do it for the family.

I really dislike "chain" restaurants that are cookie cutter of a million others. Well, if the service is good it may not be half bad.

I understand...just referring to the beers that they sell as their own microbrews...

For anyone interested I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting an overpriced Chilis. The food was MUCH better than Chilis. Very well seasoned and the menu was quite extensive although the basics are the same (burgers, pasta, and pizza for kids). The service was good as our waitress was attentive but not overburdening.

One thing to note. This place makes its money on alcohol. The beer and wine menu has more options on it than the food menu. At each table you can hear the wait staff ask patrons if the beer menu can be "described" to them. The Sam Adams Cherry Wheat was quite good.

They have the largest, what must be LCD or Plasma, screen tv I have ever seen in a restaurant. This was a little disappointing. Is it possible to enjoy the company of the people you are dining with and not watch tv?!

All in all it was a very good experience and I would go back again.

MY wife and youngest son hit it up for lunch last week while fighting the Mall mobs, and both really enjoyed what they had (some kind of salad and grilled chicken, I think). Worth a try for happy hour sometime...

I had a very negative experience there. After questionable service to begin with I saw my waitress serve some food to the table directly next to ours. The guys there looked @ the food funny, picked at it a bit. Lifted the bun on the burger, pushed the chicken a bit with a fork. Called the waitress back over and told her that wasnt what they ordered. She took the plates away, walked into the back, waited 30 seconds, walked back out and served the same food to us. The guys next to us cracked up laughing when they saw this. We sat stunned for a minute then asked for the manager. He was nice enough, replaced the food and comped the meal. Food wasnt very good after all that though. Still have a sour taste from that place....

Wow. Not the kind of thing you need to be doing in a "high end" restaurant. I mean for BR this place would be considered upscale and service is really important.

i haven't been yet. Might go to the bar just for a beer. I have never been sold on beer places serving good food.
