Drove by The Outdoor Living Center to get charcoal this morning and it's gone. Building is empty. No sign that says they moved. Perhaps old news but new to me.
Closest dealer for BGE charcoal is Slidell so I guess it's Royal Oak from now on.

All I use in my egg is the Royal Oak lump from Home Depot. I like it a lot. What's better about the BGE coal? It honestly never crossed my mind to buy the BGE coal. I hate that lump coal that Lowe's carries. I think it's called country boy, or something like that.

Royal Oak lump is supposed to be the same as BGE. The dealer had a buyers club thing that got us a free bag every couple months or so. Pretty sure it didn't actually make it cheaper though. I liked tossing their grilling section for new things too.

Massey's Sporting Goods stores sell BGE's and have the accessories. If there's one nearby, check it out.

They moved to a bigger location on 190 about 1/4mile south of old location.

BGE is Royal Oak brand. Kamado Joe is Wicked Good lump brand. If there is a KJ dealer near you, try the KJ lump charcoal. I really like it because there seem to be more big pieces per bag than other brands, and it burns really well.

Any idea who makes the Primo charcoal?

Naked Whiz website has a thorough review of all the brands, many you've never even heard of. I hadn't visited that site in years, so I can't recall who's lump is actually in the Primo bag. Will check it out later.
ETA: looks like Primo's lump is their own now for the past few years, but they were outsourcing prior to that.

I use Kingsford briquettes most of the time and have for 10 years. Makes a little more ash and doesn't burn as long but irks for me.

Lady at Home Depot told me they had Royal Oak on sale a few weeks ago for 4.99 a bag. She said people were rolling out of there with it like Ghost in the Machine
