Peavine was a dump run by the most uncouth barbarians I have come across. If I had not known better, I would have thought to be in the midst of diners from the darkest heart of Houston, Dallas, or Baton Rouge. Upon eating there during a journey to the wilderness of the west, I was immediately reminded why I am pushing our local leaders to warn citizens of the dangers one accepts the minute he leaves New Orleans. After leaving Peavine's, having washed out my mouth with four of their Sam's bought bottles of water, I fell to my knees and prayed to the God above that such iniquity and pestilence would never befall another person of such erudite and moral standing. Since that petition, I have learned Peavine's has closed.

Im guessing you are talking about the onion blossom mum or whatever you want to call it and not fried soft shell crab. I would like to hear in what way they claim to validate that claim...

What you didnt know all the murders were really just because those people chose to eat at a chain? They consider it a mercy kill..

very nice.
and the crab trap is actually much better overall than Peavine, but i have never had their softshells.
Also, when you go on a long voyage so you bring some pristine nola soil in your shoe, a times pic front page detailing the city's moral superiority, and a jar of central grocery olive salad to use in times of distress?

The Crab Trap's prices are absurd. I have never, nor will I ever pay for a boiled Louisiana blue crab. They are too numerous and easy, not to mention fun, to catch on one's own.
Your idea about carrying emblems and the soil of life is a good one, maybe the best I have come across here.

have you tried their "BBQ crab"? I thought it was pretty cheap when you factor in their cheap beer prices.

Crabs should never, ever be boiled. Shrimp are boiled, crabs are not. When LA figures this out, they will be the seafood capitol. At this point, Maryland has it.

Yes, I like to dredge mine in a a little seasoned flour, shake it off real well, and sautee in a little of butter/olive oil, and then top with some capers, lemon juice, fresh parsley and some times with about a teaspoon of Frangelico.
This sounds insanely good...especially with the Frangelico doing the salty and sweet thing. I may have to try it soon!
