LA Bar next door has some decent seafood though.

Another vote for Cajun Stop. Lisa is from Louisiana, tell her hello, she is very nice (and very nice to look at!) and she cooks well. Notice I said she... as someone else had said, when she is not there... it's not that good.

Also, out on the Katy Freeway is Texas Borders. I don't know if they still have this, but as of a couple of years ago, they had Leidenheimer french bread. Legit, fresh french bread.

Otherwise, you won't find good po boys in Houston. Just not their thing. Go to Central Market and get a sandwich.

Or do like we used to. On the way home from work, stop at Panera Bread and get a French baguette, go home and make your own sandwich.

I did when I lived there...been about 3 years. He always had pretty good food. Gumbo was pretty good, but I always told him I had to deduct a few stars due to no potato salad.

Zydeco's is the best Cajun/southern food I have had in Houston

I used to eat there once a week during law school because it was a block away. I have not been in years but it rocked. The owners are from La somewhere. Great place. I need to get over there.
