I've hit a few Baton Rouge Asian markets recently, and the Thai-specific selection seems pretty lacking compared to what I used to find in Birmingham.

Yes, Birmingham. Alabammer.

What I was hunting this time was Thai fish sauce, which seems to me to be much cleaner and refined vs. the muddy Viet or Korean fish sauce that I saw in the BR markets. I've come to like the Thai stuff for a dipping sauce or to add a little something-something to other foods. Anyone know of an alternate source? Whole Foods or other grocer?

Have you been to Vinh Phat? If anyone is going to have your fish sauce, it will be them.

Have you tried Olive Tree or A Z International Fine Foods?
They don't have a huge selection of Thai specifically but may have what you're looking for.
