It's pretty late to be scouting Mother's Day recommendations for any of the nicer restaurants.

Most have been long booked.

Most places are going to be on over and hour wait on Mother's Day.

Looking at OpenTable, City Pork still has tons of openings and they do a fantastic brunch. Galatorie's has a 1:30, Beausoleil has a 1:30, Kalurah Street Grill has tons of openings...

Otherwise, I wouldn't go somewhere that you have to fight the church crowd plus the Mother's Day crowd without reservations.

Your house. Mother's Day is one of the worst days for quality of food, service, and atmosphere.

1) Every yahoo who doesn't go out to eat often and doesn't know how to act when eating out is going to be there. Enjoy watching the Clampetts eat.
2) Both front and back of house staff is going to be way overextended because of the crowds, so it's going to take forever and be frustrating
3) The chef is almost certainly going to have a limited menu using the cheapest ingredients he can get away with. He knows that a lot of the crowd that goes to these brunches won't be sophisticated enough to know that it's nowhere near worth what they're paying and most of that crowd is not and never will be regular customers. So, if he scalps them a little bit, who gives a shite?

Mother's Day brunch: Not even once.

If you really want to take your mom out, do it on Saturday or the next weekend and take her somewhere nice when the clownshow isn't in full effect and you can really enjoy a nice dinner with her.
