The wife and I are going to be intown this weekend for the game and want to get a good Bloody Mary and maybe breakfast before going to tailgate. Where's is a good place near campus?

Best Bloody Mary in BR is at the Patio, which is a ways from campus. They'll sell you a gallon of them for $24, just give them 24 hours.
The Chimes has a good brunch and good Bloody Marys. They're right outside campus. Louie's is a great breakfast spot with the best hash browns on Earth. It's also close to campus. I don't think you can get a Bloody Mary there, it's a diner. All they sell is beer

Yeah, we went to Mason's once and thought it was not good. It isn't nearly in the same brunch class as The Chimes or Beausoliel. But Baton Rouge residents LOVE that place.

I wouldn't put it in the same ballpark. The place, food, and people there are gross.

Agree about masons, have never gotten the appeal of the place or why people wait so long to eat there

Mason's location is certainly less than desirable.

Chimes is the best, closest to campus option.

City Pork under the overpass is another good option if you want breakfast.

I had a decent bloody mary at Mahoney's on W Chimes. Half the price of Chimes too.

It's just Zing Zang. I actually can't understand how someone could possibly make a bad one.

Using Zing Zang is the start of a bad Bloody Mary.

If you're hellbent on using a mix, Whiskey Willy's is the correct answer.

Doesn't Chimes and Mason's both use it? I could have sworn I've seen Chimes using Zing Zang before.

I'm sure they all do. It's the Bud Light of Bloody Mary mixes.

I will try Whisky Willie's before disagreeing with you.

Is WW Ghost?

What are the options between Ghost and Bud Light?

Bought some for a tailgate earlier this year after taking advice from this board. $25 for a gallon with a fifth of vodka in it. It's definitely not zing zang and people were loving it all day.

Mason's is the best I've had in town, I prefer them over Walk-Ons, Chimes, Twin Peaks. But I haven't been to all the locations mentioned in here.

Could be wrong, but I believe that Mason's makes their own mix
