Anything worth stopping for between Opelousas and Alexandria?

Headed up next Friday for the state playoffs. I plan on stopping at Billy's and Bourques and maybe Teets for some to-go items. Any other places I need to stop? Don't want to venture too far off I-49.

Only if you want a Lea's pie and a ham sandwich.

I had cabbage rolls there last week and they were good.

Yeah, I've been there, done that. Those pies were overrated imo.

Yes, Piccadilly has better pies. Not sure why they're always mentioned as some great pie maker, maybe the only one around the area ?

Try Mothers Fried Chicken in Opelousas since you dont want to go far off 49.

But honestly, i would just load up on Boudin balls and the Dr. Pepper w/real sugar (in the glass bottles) from billys and ride on out.

I've had Mama's before. Good stuff.

Yeah, looks like I'll probably heed your advice and just snack on boudin and sweet dough pie. I might hit up a pizza place in Alexandria that someone mentioned to me.

It's a little way off, which is why I'm not sure if I'm going to detour or not.

when you go to teet's, you just simply go on 167 (right across the road from teet's). that'll take you all the way to the turkey creek / meeker exit.

you won't lose a minute of time traveling.

don't go all the way back through ville platte to go to 49.

Exit 53.
Head into bunkie (approx 4 miles east).
Go to Bernices sandwich shop.
Order Flook Burger.
Enjoy the best burger of your life.
