Anyone used whiskey/scotch aging barrels?

I have been considering picking up a couple of these aging barrels.
Anyone tried these yet, and how did it turn out? I am more of a scotch drinker, and the idea of picking up a 12 year scotch, aging it 90 days, and having it taste more like 15-18 year bottle sounds too good to be true.
