Leave tomorrow for NYC for the first time. Just there couple of days. Come back Sunday. We were thinking of maybe going to Brooklyn Brewery. Any of you been? Worth it?

I've never been, but I do like their beers. Other Half, which is also in Brooklyn, makes better beers for my tastes. I'd go there.

Other Half is having a release Saturday, I'd go stand in line and buy some to mule home no doubt.

That being said, I bet Brooklyn is an awesome operation.

Definitely do this, op. Other Half is highly sought after and even if you don't like the beer, buy what you can afford and trade it

It's worth a visit. That said, let me manage your expectations.

Get your name on the tour sign up when you get there and then get yourselves some tokens to have a beer or two while you wait - and the lines can be a big long. Depending upon the day there may be line to get in, lines for the various beers and lines for the bathroom.

Yes, I did say tokens. Really annoying tokens - its 1 token for $5 or 5 tokens for $20. Most beers cost one token, higher octane brews run 2 tokens (usually only one or two of these being offered out of 8 or 10 taps. About a 12 ounce pour. Tips to the bartenders are of course, in cash.

The Brewery isn't the only draw for the area - there are plenty of good bars, both dives and high end, music venues, restaurants and shops. You can easily spend a few of days in that stretch of Brooklyn and not lack for things to check out.

If you want some good beer in Brooklyn, check out Torst. It was opened by the guy who started Evil Twin brewery. If you are a beer geek you will be in heaven.

Brooklyn Brewery is okay, probably worth checking out. The area it is in is my favorite part of NYC. Insane amounts of bars/restaurants. The Wythe Hotel is right there and has a popular rooftop bar. Torst is around the corner. Some other good spots in the area: Spritzenhaus, Radegast, Dirck the Norseman.

I'll be at Other Half probably around 11am Saturday if you want to grab a drink, I'll see if Bbrou is around to join.

This. If you want to hit up Brooklyn Brewery, definitely hit up Torst before or after. You won't regret it.

Other half is also pretty awesome, although it is not as big or as nice of a place to hang out as Brooklyn Brewery. That being said, the beer is better if you are into IPAs. Both are worth a trip, but they are separated by a pretty good distance so you are looking at an annoying subway ride or uber if you want to do both in one day.

Brooklyn lager is a very underrated beer. It’s delicious on tap too.
