Is it safe to assume Lac Ophelia is getting water?

Maybe they will finally open it after 10+ years of closure. That lake used to be the bomb, even I could catch fish there.

Best I could find:

quote:

It is well over the dam this morning. I am reading just about 1 foot over the dam (42 feet) on my calibrated precision bamboo pole with paint stripes sprayed on every foot.

Tuesday May 17 ,2011 10:37 AM. I measured water rise in Little River over 24 hours at 5 1/2 inches. The news is better with predictions of a 47' foot crest instead of 51' at Acme, Lock and Dam #1.

Got word last night Little River/Spring bayou rising 6" a day from Sunday thur Wed. and water is coming in better fast, but will not be as bad as predicted last week. They are say about as high as 1997, water in yards on little river but no major flood. Will go to camp Fri. evening to take a boat ride and check things out.

Wish I could, they are working to help Spring Bayou with grass crap. Maybe one day it will get better. It is really nice when the water is up. We really did good duck hunting last year.

I am pulling for them. I know they want to find a way to divert water, but I just don't think it can happen.

I don't think it will happen because of funds. I hate to sell my camp on Little River but we don't go has much has we would like to. I known the grass is a problem in some areas but we still enjoy the bayous, fishing and hunting in Avoyelles parish.

The high alkalinity in the water coming in should be a great help in killing the grass. As far as it killing off all the floating islands, I doubt it. Lets just pray that when the water decides to go down it doesn't do it fast.

I'm hoping they get seriously displaced. Like up into the woods or something.

I haven't heard much recently. Was supposed to be pretty bad though.

I keep up more with Simmesport's situation. Looks like we are gonna be ok unless something major happens.
