If there was a breach in the levee, how long would it take for people to start getting water on their property? I live one of the subdivisions off of the bluebonnet extensions.

Also, how into BR would the water reach?

Sorry if this has already been discussed. Thanks in advance

Probable depends on where levee is breached but yes anyone leaving west of Highland road is screwed if levee's don't hold.

Well depends on where the breech is, how bad the breech is, current water level of the river, etc...

Also, who's property are you talking about?

If it breaches downtown, you should be ok. That section is higher in elevation.

According to my guess, it would flood in 17.5 minutes at a depth of 6.5 feet all the way to Denham Springs.
That is just my guess though.

A lot of BR sits on high ground and there's a bluff that runs from downtown along Highland(ish). Anything south of that is screwed if the levee goes anywhere from around the Kidd south. North of that (north of that low spot that's between the Kidd and that tugboat dock), the elevation is high enough that there is only the chance of light flooding (water reaching up to the railroad or MAYBE a roadway).

Worst case scenario would be a breach along River Road at or south of LSU. All of that is floodplain. With so much water being held back right now, there would be tons of force pushing water through at a rate that would eat through the levee in short order.
