Why cant i just insert a pic without putting a link...like every other social media...from my photos on my phn?

Social media (FB, Twitter, etc.) can host your pics for you, so you just post and they upload and are displayed. On a message board, your pics aren't hosted here. You have to host them on a photo sharing site (Photobucket, Imgur, etc.) and use the sharing link so they can be displayed.
