Can you make youtube gifs using Gimp??

Is there a certain version of Gimp I need to download for this or is it in the basic package??? Or is it just not possible lol?

Not GIMP, but on photoshop I transfer youtube videos to gifs using some very helpful websites via Google. It's often times a long and tedious process, but I've gotten a bit better at .gif's lately so the reward seems to be worth it.
I would assume on GIMP you go through the same process.

Uhhh....worng. Yes you can. I do it all the time. FWIW I have PS CS3 and Gimp but have found gimp way more user friendly for making GIF files
