What is the general consensus of DFS?

I know people despise the amount of advertising that has gone into it(this can't be understated) but other than that,what do you think of the system itself?
Although I play in standard leagues in the typical sports(NBA/NFL/MLB) it's kind of nice to watch other games with something on the line and do research on things like matchups/value and not have dumb shite like injuries derail you. I get the other side that playing with friends is better too.
Do you prefer it over regular leagues to an extent or you just don't buy it?

it is only fun when you win money.
i hate their constant commercials.
I only started playing it last year because my home league had a few players who lost interest in fantasy football. Guys weren't setting their lineups and there was no more banter on the league board. So I just wanted to try something new.
i've won money off of FanDuel but it isn't something I'm going to sit here and recommend for people either. I've seen plenty of people say they don't like.
I've started to play in single entry tourneys and I've been winning money almost every week. It isn't a lot of money but its better than entering a multi entry tourney that has hundreds of entries from fantasy pros.... The Sharks they call them.
