Too Many Teams - Scoring Individual Def Player

We have too many teams in our league so I thought I might mix things up.
QB-1
RB-1
WR-1
TE-1
Flex-2
DEF-1
LB-1
CB-1
Removing 1 RB and 1 WR slot and allowing 2 flex to make it easier to have either a rb,wr or te.
Also added LB and CB.
Thing is nobody in the league has used individual def players before. How do I score them? Anyone have a list of scoring settings and an idea of how they compare to offensive player?
This move might get me kicked out of being the commish which I would love.
