Tips for doing live auction vs an online auction? Any websites that help?

Our league has been doing auction drafts for a few years, but we always did them online. It made it pretty easy to keep track of what players were off the board, rankings of the available players, etc.

This is the first time we will be doing one that is not through a website; it will be live and in person.

Any websites out there to help with this? Maybe ones that let you enter in information in real time as the draft goes on and it comes back with info?

Any tips in general?

Curious to know why ya'll aren't doing it online this year? We do ours with ESPN. This is the 4th year of auction draft for us.

Make sure you have an auctioneer who have no interest in the league. Usually it makes for a fair auction. Also, be prepared to draft for 3-4 hours when it's live. I usually have another person put the stickers on the board throughout and budget them

All of this. I do one auction league every year and usually takes somewhere around 3 and a half hours. Make sure to stay hydrated

Not because there was anything wrong with the online one. We just wanted to do something different.

We use a spreadsheet instead of the stickers so you can put the value next to the player chosen. The spreadsheet does the calculation so that you can see what each manager has left to spend. Plug computer into big screen TV so everyone can see.
