Just looked at the league this morning
This trade just happened on the last day of trades

1 team is on the fence of making the playoffs
The other team has no chance

The team with the chance gets Theo Riddick, Jason Witten, and Emmanuel Sanders...... (all starters on his team)
He gives up Cameron Brate, Mohamed Sanu, Tyrod Taylor, and Travis Benjamin (all bench players on his team)

Owners of both teams are related (possibly brothers)
I have emailed the league manager of this....
I believe this is collusion

Does the guy not making the playoffs have anything to play for? For example: we offer cash to the highest point total of the week. If he has nothing to play for, he shouldn't be trading.

No

85% goes to winner
10% goes to runner up
5% goes to third

Well the only reason he could be trading is to help someone out. A trade only works when it helps BOTH teams. I would say definitely collusion.

Exactly..
and they are related (possibly brothers.. same last name) which makes it even more obvious to me

I thought so too
I haven't played fantasy in almost 10 years
I'm not up to date on all the new things with it but something was very fishy with this trade

If it was in the first few weeks...no problems with it. May not be a smart trade, but it is what it is.

Right before the playoffs with one team having no shot...he shouldn't be trading.

Should have a trade dead line sooner to prevent these things.

This is why you should have a trade deadline. If there's no deadline, you can't just say a team has to stop trading when out of the playoffs. That being said, this isn't a great trade and certainly would raise some eyebrows given the teams relative standings. I think it was smart to raise the issue with the commissioner. If the commissioner is any good he will approach both owners and try to determine why they each made the trade.

Nope... no good
Here is his response I just got less than 5 minutes ago..

"I've got it setup so that everyone can vote to veto a trade, and I'm pretty sure at least a couple of us voted against it, but I guess not enough people did to overturn it.

I could have done it as the commissioner, but I hesitate to do that unless it is terribly out of balance.

Sorry man, but I'm guessing Alan may not make the playoffs anyway, so maybe it won't matter. "

No

Has little to do with the players, more to do with the timing and situation

I say no but I'm against vetoes unless it's painfully obvious.
Then again this is why you should have a trade deadline. Prevents people out of the playoffs making trades

In a vacuum, I disagree that the trade is that bad. I mean, it's not perfect, by any means, but I would imagine that there are scenarios where this would help both teams. It's not nearly as bad as the trade offered to you mentioned in your other thread.

Now, if one team is out of the playoffs and has nothing to play for, then he probably shouldn't be trading. That's why leagues need trade deadlines or something else to prevent this BS.

Wait, so there was a veto process in place and the trade passed? Nothing you can do at that point. Not the commissioner's fault either. In fact, if there was a veto vote and the trade was upheld, and the commissioner still decided to veto, that would be real sketchy.

Truth...all you can be upset about is no trade deadline. Did everyone not vote or something? Sometimes these things go unnoticed. If that's the case you should have been the league dickhead like me and brought it to everyone's attention.

Also truth.

Not everyone saw the trade in time to vote

This is why Commish vetoes are superior to league votes

Assuming your commissioner knows what they're doing, of course

Agree, but if your league does it by voting, you have to follow it in most situations.

It sucks, but it's up to the league to pay attention to trades. No one to blame but yourselves.

Having said that, I'm sure you don't want to break up the league, but I'd be pretty hesitant to continue playing with people trying to cheat the league. At the very least it should be a reason to impose a trade deadline for next session.

I had a situation in one league where the guy that had first place locked up conveniently left some major players out the last week of the season against his dad. Caused me to miss the playoffs. I didn't catch it until someone else saw it but by then it was too late. But I should have been watching that. Live and learn.
