Well, I was thinking of nabbing another OT, because they have a need there too, but I couldn't get a good feel for any of the guys there. They all seemed to be middle round picks. Almost pulled the trigger on one, but decided to wait.

I'm trying to drink and watch the reds at a bar with friends. Its hard to mock draft. everyone chill out.

Nice, wasn't sure if you were in Cincy or not.

We talked about going to the game.

I went last year, and I think I hit a couple of spots you recommended.
Enjoyed the town. Can't find Goetta anywhere here.

Raiders need to protect Matt Flynn, blah blah.
They take Dallas Thomas, OL from Peyton Manning University.

OBUDan and the eagles are on the clock

Alright, I'm making this pick more on who I THINK will get picked and less on who I would LIKE to get picked.
With the 67th Pick the Philadelphia Eagles select:
Gavin Escobar, TE, San Diego State University
Escobar is a huge, fluid athlete that ran top 5 times in the 3 cone, 20-yard and 60 yard shuttle for TEs at the combine. He didn't time well in the 40, but turned around at his pro day and run a 4.7.
It may seem foolish for the Eagles to take a TE when they already have Brent Celek and just signed James Casey. They also have Clay Harbor an athletic guy drafted in the 4th round just 3 years ago. Well, Celek will still get run and can be used more as a two-way TE that can block and catch passes. Casey is more of a swiss army knife that will be deployed all over the field from FB to flexed out to in-line blocked. Harbor is the mystery man and a guy that could be a casualty (or maybe not, depending on Kelly's views).
But the Eagles have furiously been working out TEs in the whole process leading up to the draft. Clearly Kelly is looking to add another dynamic weapon to the mix. Escobar is just that guy. He's huge (6'6") with the necessary athleticism and more than anything, he catches the ball like a WR. This is the perfect type of guy for Kelly's offense. It gives Chip another toy and one with size. He can't block a living soul, but fortunately for him, Kelly won't ask him to.
ETA: Escobar may not be the TE the Eagles settle on but I'd be surprised if they didn't snatch one up in their first 4 picks.

I feel better about my EJ Manuel pick for the 49ers.
quote:
Appearing on ESPN's SVP & Russillo radio show, Todd McShay stated that he's "hearing from people" Florida State QB E.J. Manuel could be drafted "as early as the middle of the first round."
McShay only has a late second to early third-round grade on Manuel, but teams are apparently higher on Christian Ponder's Florida State successor. McShay acknowledged that Manuel has "a lot of potential" because he has "a lot of physical tools", but struggles early in games and is "good for a couple of big blunders a game." Manuel is an intriguing case because he possesses read-option skills and is entering an increasingly read-option NFL.

With the 68th pick of the TD.com NFL Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns select Quinton Patton, WR, Louisiana Tech
Patton probably never will be an elite receiver, but he has the ability to be a very reliable receiver in the NFL for years to come. And reliability is something quarterback Brandon Weeden and the Browns' passing attack could use.
Filled with incredible talents, like Josh Gordon and Greg Little, Patton will help stabilize a group that has been up-and-down production wise game-to-game the past few seasons.

Jimithing and Cards on the clock.

Manuel will be one of those interesting guys to watch on draft day. He's got all the tools and none of the production.

The Cardinals select John Jenkins, DT, Georgia
Can play when he wants to, doesn't play when he doesn't want to. Arizona thinks he will play and can make a nice duo with Darnell Dockett inside.
