The internet told me not to start Jameis Winston today...

Anyone else? Or am I the only sucker...

Every so called "expert" that I read on the web this morning basically said swallowing a bullet would be a better option than starting Winston.

The Bills defense allows the 3rd fewest fantasy points to QB's, they said.

Winston needs to definitely ride the bench today, they said.

So I rode Andy Dalton hard...straight to a loss.

I started Carson Palmer over him today. I also benched Amari Cooper for Davante Adams. FML

Yikes. I feel a little better now. I guess that an underlying purpose of this board is the "misery loves company" angle.

Pretty good info

Here's your issue. Had you done research on Mr. Dalton, you would have seen he was going against the defense ranked 2nd best against QBs

You benched the better player in the better matchup. You only have yourself to blame

I feel bad for you though, you made the right decision, and shite hit the fan anyway. But that's fantasy for you

I have Wentz tomorrow night and down 7.5 points. If I had played Winston, I would be up by 16 and he only has the kicker for Philly left. I also have Blount left to play. I could have played Aaron Jones and would be up another 20 and have win secured. I have to hope Wentz has a typical Wentz game ( 18 points) and Blount to give me at least 7 and also Philly only score TDs.

You weren’t going to play Winston over Wentz though. That would be a dumb decision, considering Wentz has a better matchup and has played better all season, and Winston has an injured throwing shoulder. Similar situation for Blount and Jones. You can second guess your poor decisions, but making the smart play and it not working out isn’t something you should second guess. Both of your picks are the smarter plays. OP is the only person I’ve seen in this thread make a bad decision

That's my luck with Winston this year. I see the matchups and play him when he has a better matchup and get burned by him. Throws INT and only has one TD. I bench him and he has massive numbers. I would not have played Winston over Wentz based on matchup. Reason I picked up Buffalo D too. Jones I was considering to start over Blount bc I had a feeling he could get a score. Sucks bc the last 3 weeks I have played against the top scoring team in my league. Watson had a huge game, then went against the guy who had Gurley, Palmer and Gordon. Now this week Wilson, Jax D, and Ty Hill have huge games. I was able to counter with a huge game from Zeke. Hopefully Wentz has a game he is capable of having.

Fair enough. I was going on the notion that Dalton is trending upward the last few weeks and I anticipated that maybe Pitt/Cincinnati would end up being a shootout, which it looked like it might be in the first half, then the only thing the Bengals shot after that was their foot.

Winston's injury made me a little nervous too...I know he was cleared to play, but you never know exactly what you are going to get. All things being equal, I think it was the unknown about his health that led me to pull the plug after reading what a "bad" matchup it was. If he hadn't been hurt last week, I very probably start him this week one way or the other.

My rankings had Winston at 13 and Dalton at 19 for this week.

Sucks to be you.

Not really though. He had a good game against the Browns (most QBs do except Mariota apparently). But showed regression against the Bills at home. Then traveling on the road to a top tier Steelers defense

This is a good learning lesson though. Gotta look at trends when you choose your starters, then weigh the trends against the upcoming matchup
