I like the flex also.

We can always try just removing 1 spot this season and see how it goes.

Just a suggestion.

just got an email from "C".

So that makes the current team managers at 10:

C
cdaniel76
tigerNation09
jembeurt
LSUomaha3
Big D of the LC
stonedbegonias
touchdown moses
DCBJR6
lurkingnomore

And all of us have said we would pay $50.

Only people I haven't heard from are WorldsGreatest (He's the guy who's Mom passed away last season and he mailed it in after that) and LSUTigers23. If yall see any of them active on the board please tell them to come check this thread or reply to my email. If I don't hear from them by NOON on Friday their teams will be given to other people interested in playing.

How did yall like the payment and payout website that I used last season ( leaguesafe.com)? You two were 2nd and 3rd place. Did the pre-loaded Visa card work out for yall?

To everyone: Did anyone have any gripes about that site? Will everyone be ok using it again this year?

The pay site worked fine for me. I think it only took a couple of days for me to get my money.

I thought that site was pretty cool. It was easy to pay and all.

I like the flex spot a lot. I do think just taking 1 spot away would make a difference. If you wanted to take away 2 spots, I think that taking the flex spot out (along with 1 bench spot) would be like a lateral movement in terms of depth, since 12 teams would have 1 less starter and less need for an extra player anyway. Just my opinion.

ETA: I feel like the way I typed that may seem confusing.

What I'm trying to say is that pretty much everyone keeps the same two RBs and WRs in their line ups, with that flex being that spot that you usually fill weekly from your bench.

You really think I'm not going to defend my title! Hell yeah this Falcons fan is back to once again take home the GOLD!

As for how it should be set up: I strongly agree with reducing bench spots and keeping 12 players. I'd be in favor of increasing the flex positions and taking away a RB position. So something like:

QB
RB
WR
WR/RB
WR/RB/TE
TE
D
K

This gives a lot of room to make moves. I can't view at work, but can someone paste the current scoring rules so we can discuss those as well? Please do it in text form vs a picture as my work blocks some image hosting sites.

Here's the scoring...

How do you feel about increasing the buy in to $50 this season?

I'm not sure I like the idea of an additional flex spot on top of the one we have already. That would just allow for an owner to hoard WRs or RBs. If we're going to keep the Flex position we already have then I'd rather remove 1 RB of the 2 RB positions.

Offense

Passing Yards: 1 point per 15 yards
Passing Touchdowns: 6 points
300-399 Passing Yards Bonus: 2 points
400+ Passing Yards Bonus: 3 points
Rushing Yards:1 point per 10 yards
Rushing Touchdowns: 6 points
50+ Rushing Yard TD Bonus: 1 point
100-199 Rushing Yards Bonus: 2 points
200+ Rushing Yards Bonus: 3 points
Receiving Yards: 1 point per 10 yards
Receiving Touchdowns: 6 points
50+ Receiving Yard TD Bonus: 1 point
100-199 Receiving Yards Bonus: 2 points
200+ Receiving Yards Bonus: 3 points
Kickoff & Punt Return Touchdowns: 6 points
Fumble Recovered for TD: 6 points
2-Point Conversions: 2 points

Kicking

PAT Made: 1 point
FG Made 0-19: 3 points
FG Made 20-29: 3 points
FG Made 30-39: 3 points
FG Made 40-49: 4 points
FG Made 50+: 5 points

Defense / Special Teams

Sacks: 1 point
Interceptions: 2 points
Fumbles Recovered: 2 points
Safeties: 2 points
Touchdowns: 6 points
Kickoff & Punt Return Touchdowns: 6 points
Points Allowed 0: 10 points
Points Allowed 1-6: 7 points
Points Allowed 7-13: 4 points
Points Allowed 14-20: 1 point
Points Allowed 21-27: 0 points
Less than 100 Total Yards Allowed: 1 point

I'd like to see it as 1 point per 25 yards, but I guess it doesn't really matter.

Hell yeah, just more money I can take from you suckas! (ok I'll stop with the smack talk until the draft)

So the difficulty with starting players always comes when the bye weeks start happening. That's when up to 20% of the teams are off. So there are probably 30 rb 40 wr and 20 te worth keeping. if you take away 20% from each you get 24rb, 32 wr, and 16 te to choose from on the worst weeks. So if you take away one starting wr, rb and te for each team based on non-flex positions you have 12 rb, 20 wr, and 4 te for flex spots. so you have 36 keepers in a 12 team league for the bye weeks available to fill 2 flex spots. that, IMO, is plenty.

It forces you to look ahead, but doesn't force you to start a <10 possession rb.

Throw in the fact that we want to reduce the benches down to 4 or 5 spots, you would still be able to keep about 3 rb/wr/te on your bench per person worth keeping. You would have to be smart about your bench and not hoard prospects like some have suggested.

As for the scoring:
Where are the negative points?

QB is too heavily rated (although that helped me greatly last year) Need to either add PPR or taking passing TDs to 4 points and passing yards to 1/25 yds.

Oh and if we are going to keep doing this year after year, I wouldn't mind discussing making it a keeper league and "interviewing" replacements vs just grabbing the first person that posts in the thread.

agree 1000 %
20/25 yards per point on qb is perfect.. 15 way too low..
and i would go with either 4 or 5 pts per td for the qb also...
PPR maybe .5 pts per reception ?
