I will sit on him if you decide you want to add a few guys leading up to the deadline. Got some wily vets and some HR pop, and a few decent pitchers. Hit me up down the line if he struggles

id say increase it by 5IP or + 1 start from what it usually is

45 would be the prorated amount, but I think from 30 to 40 would be fair.

there were only 3 days in week 1.
40 wouldn't be bad, but i would only expect a team to make 1 or 2 starts in that week.

The problem is you can't change it on ESPN. If you do, it does it for all of the weeks and changes the standings (I just tried and changed it back).
Basically the site would not correct it, we'd have to "manually" update the stats Sunday night. Would be a paid in the butt to keep up with.
