Who's value is off, mine or the consensus?

You are talking about a keeper league. Getting in at the ground floor of a young potential superstar is worth something. Guys like Trout and Stanton have paved the way and proved it's worth holding on to guys about to break the show like Bryant. They don't have "MiLB" value. They have perceived 35/100 value before a single AB in the big leagues.

I think you could poll the owners of Bryant in TDBL, rw3r, FSB or any other keeper league. I would say Jones/Moss is an instareject from all of them except the guys who dont respond to trades.

i wouldnt even consider it. Would need another young, exciting player in return, plus something else probably.

Tigerdroppings notoriously overrates young talent. I'd hardly use it as some sort of barometer of what his worldwide value is. I get significantly shittier offers from you and every other member I'm in a league with each week during the regular season.

Cockcroft is probably the consensus best fantasy baseball player in the world. His re-release of his dynasty rankings that came out this weekend had Bryant at 29. Prior to ST starting, baseball prospectus' head rankings writer had Bryant in the mid 30s.

He's not a consensus top 5 guy in keeper leagues, which is the only way that offer would be out of line.

Avg vs OPS changes his value some. Not enough to where he carries a Trout/Stanton price tag, which is where you're putting him.

Instareject in a 12 man/16 team keeper all day, everyday. Byant is going to be great...but not 35 hr this year.

id say that is pretty high praise for someone with ZERO MLB at bats.

this 'bout sums it up.

quote:

What if he's indeed a .250-hitting, 25-homer hitter in 2015? That's valuable in a redraft format, sure, but what matters in dynasty is that it could portend a .260-30 (or 35) line in 2016 ... and that's a huge increase in confidence in his short-term -- OK, somewhat short-term -- prospects.

Also consider the teams you're likely trying to trade with - Geaux isn't close to contending so why would he take very good guys at the end of their primes?

& with all that you bolded, he's still ranked 29th. I fail to see where I have knocked Bryant's long term upside or denied high praise.

I offered Jew that in DAT, which he claims he's a contender in for 2015.

well, a trade in a keeper league isn't based on just this year. He could very well be a top 10 player going into 2016.

Never said you knocked his long term upside. We're talking about value.

Those are keeper league rankings; beyond 2015 is being accounted for.

again, he has zero MLB AB's. Realistically you cant really rate him any higher.

It's not like he is locked into 29 forever.

Before Trout and Stantons first ABs in the bigs, how high were they in the preseason rankings?

around 50?

How high were they in dynasty rankings after year 1..both top 10?

I think most owners see this value projection for Bryant and wouldn't want to trade him for any discount.

Have you talked yourself into pulling the offer yet? Seems like you shouldn't take that scrub on.

So I just asked my buddy, a huge Cubs fan, about his opinion of Bryant. He said he reminds him of Pat Burrell.

I'm actually surprised he has him 29th. Those guys are always safe in their rankings

6 pitchers are ahead of him
6 guys are 30+ years old
Puig, Rizzo, Rendon, Altuve, springer, Brantley ... Meh

I would not have a problem with bryant being in the 10-15 range of a dynasty ranking

Burrell was a pretty damn good power hitter in his prime.

Though mostly pull hitter. Bryant's oppo power is crazy

Well then our difference of opinion lies in how you value Jones, bc I'm ranking Bryant as a top 15 player in keeper leagues.
