Need some help. I have Tannehill. I'm the type of player who likes to find a solid QB and stay consistent and stream during the one bye. Usually that works...

And then I drafted Tannehill.

Not only is it his bye, but yeah he's been awful. And I'm in a league where everyone else loves holding QB's, so pickings are slim (literally everyone else has 2 QB's).

I can get Mariota and Hurns for T Williams and Doug Martin. I just picked up Gurley and have Freeman, Bell and Forsett. So I feel good about RB's (and there's Duke J and Tevin Coleman out there who I might drop Golden Tate for).

Thoughts on both this trade and Mariota going forward? Worth it, or just grab Dalton or Smith for a few weeks and see how Tannehill shakes out?

If Dalton is available just pick him up. He is legit as is Mariota. Both are top 15 as of now in rankings I believe

If Dalton is available in free agency then I like him better than Mariota anyway. In my league Dalton is the #2 QB right now. He probably won't quite keep that up, but he has a better offense and being a veteran on his side over Mariota.

With that trade you aren't giving up much for Mariota, but meh. Is he really an upgrade? In my league Mariota has actually scored less points overall than Tannehill.

Overall yes, with one less game, but Tannehill has hit 20 once.

Play Dalton this week even against Seattle?

You are pretty stacked at RB. T Williams suuuucks. Make the trade.

I'm really high on Duke Johnson. Id grab him ASAP.

Yeah the trade is also about freeing up space to make the pickup.

I guess I should have checked bye weeks. So Mariota is significantly better than Tannehill. 19.2 p/g vs 23.6 p/g in my 6 pt ptd league. I still like Dalton better long term. Dalton is averaging 27.5. Neither one of them have a favorable match up this week with Mariota facing the Bills. I think at worst even if you view them evenly Dalton costs less as a FA pick up.

Yeah Tannehill is bad right now. Good enough to hold onto, but bad.

The move would be:

1. Trade Williams and Martin
2. Get Mariota and Hurns
3. Drop Ebron (have Gates back)
4. Pick up Johnson or Coleman

So Lose Williams, martin and Ebron...Get Mariota, Hurns, and Coleman/Johnson

I'd grab Duke. He will be in less of a time share by the time Coleman is back. (Who will definitely be in a time share)

I've been burned by Dalton in this scenario for three straight years.

He seems decent, and this year a great pickup, I need a QB, I pick him up...

7pts.

Almost every time. I know short memories, but I have bad, bad luck with Dalton. He's NEVER been a good pickup for me.

Because I like Dalton better than Mariota anyway then the trade becomes more so about adding Hurns. If you need wr depth he is decent as wr3. More relaible than a Romo-less Williams. Really it seems like the most intriguing players in this deal to me are the free agents. You can just do your business there without worrying about a trade.

I actually agree that it isn't a blockbuster, just essentially shifting players around, little gain, maybe a little stability to me if I can get Johnson.

Yeah, Dalton has a history of taking nose dives in production. However, he is in a better offense on a better team than Mariota. Mariota is just as likely and probably more so prone to be inconsistent. It isn't like you are picking between Dalton and a more proven player here. Mariota is a rookie and will be having growing pains. Who knows. Maybe Dalton has enough experience to where he'll just descend into being mediocre rather than horrible.

Watch now that I've gone through the trouble to try to convince you that Dalton is the safer pick, Mariota is going to finish with like 35 td's this year. smh.

Such is fantasy football

Heck I could do the trade drop Tannehill and still pick up Dalton. Tannehill has little value beyond hope right now.
