If for some reason he wasn't already owned in your league, now might be a good time to pick him up

yeah, luckily my league allows 10 DL spots

because I currently have Wil Myers, Mark Trumbo, Jedd Gyorko (was bout to drop him then he went on DL so I figured I'd stash), Christian Yelich, Nolan Arenado, and Gerrit Cole on the DL

Fantasy owners like shiny new things, cutting someone for rookie SPs isn't always the best move. Look at Gausman and Bauer for example. There's like 5-7 of these when guys like this get called up.

sounds like you missed out on grabbing him

Shelby Miller
Julio Teheran
Jose Fernandez
Gerrit Cole
Chris Archer
Tony Cingrani
Zack Wheeler
Sonny Gray
Michael Wacha
Dan Strailey

and those are just last year's rookies

I hope he's better than Trevor Bauer.

Bauer was rushed.

Gausman was called up, sent down, moved to the pen, called up, sent down... he is finally getting a chance to establish himself in the rotation and he has dealt against the two best lineups in the AL the last two starts.

Pitching prospects have a way better success rate than hitters. Heaney is the real deal. Good park and gets to play the Mets and Braves a lot.

7 more earned for Verlander. Jesus.

Eta. And 2 more thrown out at the plate.

Yeah... frick a 4.2 ERA and nearly a K/inning for a guy that's 23 years & 5 months old with 5 of his 7 starts being against DET, @BAL, COL, @TEX, and LAA. I'm always amazed by how good people expect prospects to be immediately after promotions.

No I don't need SP on my league, I'm pretty set with my aces. Last year's rookie class was unbelievable compared to this year's and past classes. The majority of the time owners see a prospect and expect the best and end up dropping a better player in the process.

I shoulda been more specific. Better than Bauer at this point. I don't think Bauer is ready. I did watch him pitch again tonight. He does throw hard, and has a filthy curve. Just not consistent enough throwing strikes.

Dropping your worst player for a prospect is usually how it goes, yes? If the prospect flops you just pick the guy or a similar player back up.

You can be conservative and keep Alejandro de aza on your roster or roll the dice on a guy who could do what Matt Harvey, Jose Fernandez, or Wacha did in the 2nd half of the season

Heaney is better than all of them.

Better trade him now, his fantasy value is at it's peak this season.
