He just threw 8 shutout innings against the Angels bringing his ERA 2.40 with a 1.23 WHIP. His velocity is obviously down since 2011 but in 3 years this season is the best i've seen him pitch. Besides a high whip he has looked pretty decent this season with most of his hits given up being grounders.

Hopefully he will continue pitching well and pay off as a legit FA pickup for my team.

No. He has awful command and he will not be that effective without his velocity he used to have.

I'm rolling with him for the time being. You seem pretty knowledgeable. What kind of timeline do you give Syndergarrd til he gets the call?

He just through his second consecutive shutout baseball with 19k's in 14 innings. From what I read the velocity is there with the command. I know it's AAA ball but still...

also, I picked up both Lincecum and Hammel yesterday telling myself I'll drop the one with the worse outing for Syndergaard. Well Hammel it was. Bad move?

I have no idea when Syndergaard is supposed to get the call. I am pretty sure it is 2015, but no idea when. Someone else will know better.

As far as dropping Hammel, it depends on your league's depth. If there are similar pitchers out there to Hammel, then the move is fine. If the best free agent pitcher is Kyle Kendrick and you need innings now, then you may have messed up.

I really think Matz gets the call before Syndergaard. No clue when though.

Giants GM Brian Sabean was in NY this weekend watching the Mets/Nats series. Speculation is he was there to scout Gee/Neise for a possible trade.

6ip, 0er, 8k's, 0bb, whip of 1 last night.

He has not given up a run in 14 innings posting 12 k's and a whip of .7. It looks like working out with his father these past few offseasons are paying off.

I did not get to watch him throw last night but apparently he has a huge basesloaded strike out to end the inning with Stanton was at the plate.
