Is reverse standings a fair way to set the waiver priority?

It seems like bullshite to me. If one of the top teams ever has a stud player go down, they almost have no chance to pick up a great waiver wire guy.

it's def bullshite. Up until this yr my league used this system for the last 10 yrs until I was able to convince the majority to change it. fricking Commish won 2 championships by taking advantage of this flaw. He was rewarded for drafting a shitty team where he was able to pluck the top free agent several weeks in a row

FAAB or in reverse draft order where is runs all season, not week to week

I would love FAAB but I don't know if I can convince the league... Not sure if they would comprehend the benefits

We actually changed to reverse order last year. This is year two.

I found it causes the league to be extremely balanced. Almost like a noob friendly setting.

Almost all teams last year were close in record. But of course if you led the way all year then you never got a guy in the wire

It is bullshite. If you don't do FAAB, continuously rolling waivers is the only way to go

Probably a stupid question, but what is FAAB?

Free Agent Acquisition Budget

Premise is everyone has a bankroll so to speak and can bid on waiver players.... Making it so highest gets player

I think that's how it works. I've never done it

Basically it just gives everyone a shot at any given free agent.. our league has a $100 budget for the whole season, so if I am the highest bidder for cohen this week, he's mine. I could spend all $100 on him if I was desperate, but then I wouldn't have any money for the rest of the season.. in my league you can pick up a player for $0 so you don't have to have a balance per se

We use the system where you go to the back when you claim someone off of waivers. First week is set reverse order of standings and then goes from there. It'll piss you off sometimes, but it's pretty fair. Especially to a team that doesn't need to pick anyone up for a week or two. They aren't stuck in a reverse standing situation.

This is accurate, but also, you don't get to see what everyone is bidding until after waivers clear. So you could potentially overspend on someone that nobody else was bidding on. Or you could drop $1 on a hot waiver pickup.
